How it works
Getaround renters and vehicles are automatically covered by our insurance policy during every trip. Our insurance policy includes comprehensive, collision, and liability coverage (with uninsured motorist protection) up to $1,000,000 and is administered by Broadspire.
Drivers must be at least 19 years old to drive with Getaround, or 25 to drive specialty vehicles, and possess a license for a minimum of two years (Drivers under 21 must have a clean driving record). Drivers with more than two minor violations or at-fault accidents in the past three years, or a DUI/drug-related incident in the past seven years are not eligible to drive with Getaround.
Vehicles on Getaround must be model year 2008 or newer, have less than 125,000 miles, seat no more than eight passengers, have at least four wheels, and pass a safety inspection during the onboarding process.
Every Getaround driver must pass a thorough trust and safety screening to verify their identity, credit history, and clean driving record. Our process involves 17 points of reference including Facebook, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Cars on Getaround have a daily base mileage (200 miles for normal vehicles, 100 miles for specialty vehicles). Additional mileage beyond the standard limits result in additional charges for the driver. If a renter exceeds their trip base mileage, owners will be reimbursed on a per mile basis.
Owners are responsible for keeping their vehicle well maintained and road-ready. Drivers are responsible for refueling their vehicle and returning it to the original location at the end of a trip.
